Why can’t I just get a quick adjustment to “fix” my (insert musculoskeletal symptom) without full spine x-rays to fix my problem?
BECAUSE
Two words “malpractice lawsuit.”
Chiropractic isn’t a cheap “bar trick” that instantly gets rid of the pain.
Corrective Chiropractic is a structurally focused chiropractic office that is more advanced and thorough than a drive through massage parlor.
I’m a DOCTOR of chiropractic, not a “crack whore.”
Your problem likely took years or decades to develop into a chronic problem and it’s not going to get fixed in 5 minutes.
I am not Superman and do not have x-ray vision so I do not KNOW what the exact structural alignment of your spine is without a very specific postural x-ray evaluation.
The quality of care is of the utmost priority at Corrective Chiropractic.
Corrective Chiropractic exists for the benefit of its patients, not for a quick dollar.
Corrective Chiropractic will not further the myth that chiropractic is a “quick fix” type of healthcare by offering subpar care.
Your problem cannot be fixed if it is not investigated and accurately measured with weight bearing (standing) x-rays.
That type of care is inadequate despite what your insurance company wants you to believe.
Treating patients without x-rays for a few adjustments allows your insurance company to justify not paying for medically necessary structural chiropractic care. If the profession adheres to insurance guidelines and not scientific guidelines they (insurance companies) will never be held accountable and required to pay for necessary corrective services.
That popping sound during some adjustments is not an indicator for a “successful” adjustment.
I am better suited to treat you than an insurance adjustor who has never met you.
One adjustment does not fit all.
You can have “QUALITY”, “SERVICE” or “COST”, pick two.
Even if you did “all that exam stuff” with your previous chiropractor that does not mean that 1. He or she diagnosed/treated your problem accurately. If he/she did then why are do you need an adjustment right NOW? 2. You are not a doctor. If you think you know when and what type of adjustment you need and you can determine that information without a current exam then you should share that revolution ability with the rest of the world. 3. Chiropractic care is not like a prescription that can be called into any pharmacy. The practice of medicine does this because they treat symptoms, not causes. Many chiropractors now ascribe to this symptom-based treatment which is why there is so much confusion for patients.
Since I’m sure I already sound arrogant to most people, there’s no reason to stop now. Most chiropractors fail or refuse to understand that traditional chiropractic cannot change the shape of a person’s spine. This ends up causing a false sense of knowledge with a lot of patients who think that they know what their problem is and what they need. However, the only way to be sure that you can correct the cause of the problem over a long term is with structurally based chiropractic care, mirror image traction (aka spinal remodeling), and mirror image exercises. SERIOUSLY?!?!? You don’t even take drugs once without a proper evaluation to treat symptoms. Why would you think you could do this to actually fix the cause of the problem?
You don’t call around to shop medical doctors and ask if you can get a diagnosis or prescription without an exam.
Your spine is not compromised of isolated sections that can be analyzed and treated while ignoring the rest your spine. Do you want your doctor to examine just
one chamber or your heart for an expected heart problem?
one lung for breathing problems?
just your stomach for digestive problems?
Dangerous unstable spinal congenital anomalies NEVER happen.
The extent of spinal injuries are ALWAYS known without an examination or x-ray. After all, you “didn’t fall THAT hard” “the car accident wasn’t THAT ‘bad’” and “it’s stopped hurting so I thought THAT it got better”.
All other chiropractors and medical doctors are all the same and could never miss the cause of your problem.
The shape and wellbeing of your spine is not solely determined by the presence of or severity of pain.
It would be stupid (lacking intelligence or common sense) to try and change the structure of something you can’t see.
It would be irresponsible to treat neck pain, low back pain, sciatica, disc herniation, disc bulge, headaches, migraines and numerous other musculoskeletal issues without evaluating the structure of the full spine. The spine is the foundation for which your muscles and organs attach. Any shift away from a balanced center of gravity will result in excess stress and strain on muscles, ligaments, discs, joints, vertebrae. That stress will cause these types of issues and cannot be corrected without removing said stress via reshaping the spine towards normal so that the center of gravity of equal and balanced the way it was designed.
